Daniel Ackerman
Bio
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1951.
After more than 30 years in the advertising area as a photographer, where he obtained multiple awards, both in the largest international festivals and in the local environment, he returned to Fine Art photography in 2016. This new facet was quickly recognized as a finalist in the Hariban Awards competition in Japan, and in the 2021 National Photography. He was also the first photographer invited to exhibit individually in "La Línea pensa", curated by Luis Felipe Noé and Eduardo Stupía.
His current work reflects his fascination for the graphics and textures of nature, emphasizing its character, while minimizing the notion of perspective.
He currently lives and works in Buenos Aires.
Statement
Without abandoning his tireless nomadic spirit, DANIEL ACKERMAN has stopped being that traveler and walker of landscapes and territories, both native and foreign, to try on the clothing of a peculiar passerby with an invariably sensitive gaze, although now with more circumscribed attention, attracted by that neatly anonymous, a witness who stops absorbed before what no one sees, before what (almost) no one cares about. According to the adoption of a rigorously geometric point of view and an almost calligraphic focus, its two-dimensional surface deposits expand in elegant roughness, between the vocationally informal lyrical essay, the terminal fragmentation of an epidermal space and the cartographic simulacrum.
