Juan Di Sandro

Juan Di Sandro holds a privileged place in the history of photojournalism in Argentina and is recognized as one of the most important pioneers of this genre. Born in Italy, he emigrated to Argentina with his family in 1910. In 1914 he began working at the newspaper La Nación as assistant to Nazareno Palestrini, who was then head of photography and became his teacher. Di Sandro collaborated with this journal until 1976. A true witness of his time, he captured memorable scenes such as the views of the Graf Zeppelin over Buenos Aires, the inauguration of the 9 de Julio Avenue or the fire of the store "El Coloso". He frequently participated in Photo clubs as well as in contests and salons where he won numerous prizes. Since 1952 he was a member of La Carpeta de los Diez.
