Florencia Levy

Bio

Her practice is driven by long-term research exploring different forms of subjectivities in relation to history, intimacy, architecture, and power dynamics in the human and non-human living environment. Her work is supported by interviews and fieldwork, focusing on the political resonance of places and objects, connected to conflict and affect. Through proximity and engagement with people and places, her practice establishes a particular type of documentary encounter, which is then translated into narratives developed across a wide range of media, including video, photography, painting, installation, publications, and collaborative projects, all tied to specific situations related to history and memory.

Statement

In some way, all of Florencia Levy's work relates to a symbolic dimension of archaeological or paleontological excavation, in the sense of bringing to light ways of life, memories, and temporalities that were overshadowed by the progress of History.
