Joaquín Rodríguez

Co-Curator of NEXT | Out of Focus

NEXT | Out of Focus is a sector of solo projects that is thoroughly committed to the exploration of the different procedures, languages and materials especially enabled by the photographic medium’s unique qualities. With the aim of making the work of new generations of artists visible, Fuera de Foco invites four galleries to each present an individual, an installation and an experimental proposal, and combines them to promote a space open for cross-disciplinary dialogue that generates new aesthetic experiences and enriches understanding of the art form.

In 2022, they created the IN SITU Award with the objective of recognizing, disseminating, and supporting the artistic scenes in different regions of our country. The IN SITU Award seeks to highlight visual arts productions and management from their contexts of origin. It aims to help make visible projects that respond to situated needs and that appeal to available resources to generate new markets and circulation spaces for national art.
