Awards and Acquisitions

Pinta BAphoto has a program of Awards and Acquisitions aimed at supporting artistic practice and encouraging collecting in the photography art market.

In 2023, Premio In Situ was awarded for the first time at Pinta BAphoto. Continuing with its mission of making Argentine artistic practice visible, it awarded this recognition to Yuyo Gardiol from the Crudo Arte Contemporáneo gallery in Rosario, Argentina, and to Roxana Ramos from the Satélite gallery in Córdoba, Argentina. Both artists were selected from the Out of Focus section curated by Bárbara Golubicki.

Awards and Acquisitions

*The Amalia Amoedo Collection selected the work of Alejandro Kuropatwa "Untitled" (1992) from Vasari gallery, which is participating in the main section of the fair. Kuropatwa's photograph was taken in Paris with an expired instant development reel, processed in a way that made the scratches and material deterioration visible. During his stay in the city, the artist rented a luxurious room at the Hôtel Meurice for one night and held an ephemeral exhibition hanging 16 black and white photographs on the walls of the room.

*The Alec Oxenford collection acquired three works by the legendary artist Oscar Bony from Smart Gallery selected by curator Mariano Mayer. Oscar Bony, photographs: Marilu Erotica 7; Marilu Erotica 11 and Adriana and Ricardo.

*Jean-Louis Larivière for the Larivière Latin American Photography Foundation acquired two series by artist Cecilia Lenardón from Subsuelo Gallery: Set (hat/boots/paper/glass), 2022 and Set (shoes/glove/bun/glasses), 2022. "Usually, in a set, several elements come together and all serve a specific common purpose. But at other times, the strength of that union can serve for not-so-precise purposes, where each piece accumulates a noticeable tension next to the other, which doesn't quite resolve. That potential action that emerges from that set of things will have a possible and unique resolution in each viewer's mind." Cecilia Lenardón
