Floralis Genérica is a metal sculpture located in the Plaza de las Naciones Unidas, near the UBA Law School and the National Museum of Fine Arts, gifted to the city of Buenos Aires by Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano.
It is made of stainless steel and aluminum and weighs 18 tons. It is the first moving sculpture controlled by a hydraulic system and photoelectric cells. The petals open during the day and close at night. The work was inaugurated in 2002, and its name, Floralis Genérica, is a tribute to all flowers.
Address: Av. Pres. Figueroa Alcorta 2301.
