Anatole Saderman

Bio

Born in Moscow in 1904. He studied Slavic philology, art history and drawing in Berlin. In 1926 he emigrated to Montevideo, where he met Nicolas Yarovoff, a Russian photographer who became his teacher. He joined his family in Asunción, where he opened his first studio, Foto Electra. In 1932 he settled permanently in Buenos Aires. He became close to local artists and intellectuals and affirmed his orientation towards portraiture. In 1934 he opened his studio in Callao Street, illustrated "Maravillas de nuestras plantas indígenas" and held his first individual exhibition at Amigos del Arte. He was a founding member of the Asociación de Fotógrafos Profesionales, the Foto Club Argentino and the Foto Club Buenos Aires. In the 1950s he participated in La Carpeta de los Diez. He received the Merit Diploma from the Konex Foundation.
