Statement

Verónica’s work is distinguished by its use of the body as a vehicle to question power dynamics that have historically subjugated both people and territories. In her work, corporality is seen as a territory in itself, one that has been mapped, exploited and controlled, reflecting the violence exercised on colonized lands and on women.
One of the central axes of her work is the critique of the extractivist dynamics that have marked the history of Latin America, both with regard to natural resources and female bodies. Verónica explores how these dynamics continue to manifest themselves in contemporary times, in a context where the exploitation of the female body and territory remain instruments of power. In her work, fertility and land are intertwined, claiming an autonomy that rejects their reduction to mere sources of extraction or production.
