I "Of Threads and Lands", the artists of Enfoco once again immerse themselves in nature, driven by their longstanding environmental concerns, which has been part of their artistic trajectory.
For this exploration, they draw inspiration from the issue of landfills resulting from the excesses of the textile industry.Through their documentary and expanded photography, which merges various techniques and mediums, they invite us to reflect on pressing contemporary challenges.
Their research begins in AltoHospicio, a mining commune in northern Chile, where tons of discarded clothing from around the world accumulate in the desert, causing serious health and environmental problems. However, this landscapes is mirrored in other regions, and rather than focusing solely on the harsh reality of documentation, they use this open landfill as a starting point. The echo of this reflection resonates in each image; it is an invitation to question our consumption habits and consider the impact our footprints have on the environment.
In these works, Enfoco envisions an almost theatrical universe, contemplating how this invasion of fabrics could reshape the landscape we know and alter the very essence of nature, while also imagining a more balanced, sustainable and harmonious future.
