Cristina Matos Albers

Bio

Cristina Matos-Albers (Venezuela, 1982) is a photographer and visual artist.
With a B.A. in journalism, Latin American literature, and photography from Ohio Wesleyan University (OH, USA), she moved to New York City where she started working at ABC News. There she started photographing rigorously. She has photographed extensively across Europe and the Americas and continues to participate in important art fairs and exhibitions internationally. She is currently living in Punta del Este, Uruguay, where she divides her time between personal projects, commissioned work, and teaching photography.

Statement

Interested in detail, structure and form, her work frequently experiments with the fine line between registry and art. Heir to the Venezuelan tradition in the field of abstraction and the study of color, she conceives light as a subject rather than as a means to create an image. In her work, she explores the complexities of color, light, and reflections.
