Starting in 2015, BAphoto implemented a tribute program to photographers who have had an active participation in the field of Argentine photography. This feature aims to recover and reassert the value of a figure within local history.
Links Project is another one of the crucial proposals constituting BAphoto. It is a project dedicated to strengthening the curatorial practice within the field of Argentine photography. Based on the selection of participating galleries, a young curator or pair of young curators is invited to choose a group of artists from different galleries and carry out a dynamic exhibition proposal.
Heritage photography matures over the years. The discovery of new treasures and the study of their authors enriches this assessment that is affirmed in artistic and historical guidelines. We accompany the evolution of its prestige by editing our Photographic Catalog N ° 7, another collector's work. And in this revival of the old photographic processes, for the first time we do it accompanied by a contemporary artist, the Nicaraguan photographer María José Guerrero. Majo resides in Lima, Peru. We present works of her authorship and in dialogue with the Peruvian master photographer Javier Silva Meinel.
Fuera de Foco is a sector of solo projects that is thoroughly committed to the exploration of the different procedures, languages and materials especially enabled by the photographic medium’s unique qualities. With the aim of making the work of new generations of artists visible, Fuera de Foco invites four galleries to present an individual, installation and experimental proposal, and combines them to promote an open space for cross-disciplinary dialogue that generates new aesthetic experiences and enriches understanding of the art form.
The Tijuana Fair, the first art-specific print fair organized in Brazil, celebrated 10 years of existence in 2019. Created by Galeria Vermelho (São Paulo, Brazil), the Tijuana Fair was opened in 2009 through a partnership with CNEAI | National Center for Edition and Printed Art (Paris / Pantin, France). During its first decade, Tijuana specialized in connecting Latin American publishers and has become itinerant, with editions in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Lima and Buenos Aires. Today Tijuana works with a network of publications that covers the production of countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Since 2016, BAphoto and Tijuana have organized Tijuana Photobook, an area dedicated to publishers of artist books, with a special focus on photobooks.
Fine Art Music Show is the section of the fair aimed at establishing insightful relationships between the fields of photography and music. Through the enhancement of different photographic productions, the aim is to relive historical moments of 20th century music and understand the importance of photography in the representation and diffusion of different musical styles worldwide. For its second Edition, Fine Art Music Show presents The New Argentine Wave: photographs from Editorial Atlántida, a selection of photographs on the recognized phenomenon of youth masses linked to rock & roll and cultural industries that changed the ways of leisure and consumption in the continent at large.
